The following are excerpts from our most recent annual reviews...

Department of Devolopmental Services (DDS)

California Community Opportunities received high accolades from both the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) during the first annual review of its services. The DDS review was conducted October 25, and 26. The SARC review was subsequently held December 14. Dr. Julia Mullens, Deputy Director of the Community Supports & Services Division of DDS commented on a followup letter...

"Consumers were found to be in good health, enjoying themselves, safe and comfortable, and challenging behaviors had decreased for some consumers. One parent was interviewed and stated unequivocal support for the living arrangement."

Dr. Mullens further noted, "Staff were well trained, repectful of the consumers, caring and attentive."

Two DDS Training and Quality Assurance staff completed the on-site review of CCO, which included both home visits and record reviews. The staff indicated in their report that CCO has implemented a "best practice" comprehensive electronic tracking system of the entire program. The tracking system allows anyone with specical clearance to access information about individual home progress.

The DDS staff report also indicated, "California Community Opportunities are to be complimented for their commitment to providing quality supports and services to consumers."

San Andreas Regional Center (SARC)

The San Andreas Regional Center report to DDS, regarding its review of CCO, contained similar positive findings. "San Andreas found this program to be providing excellent services to the consumers; with consistent adherence to regulatory requirements and a high level of safety and home maintenance," stated Suzanne Cagle in the report cover.

"Further, teaching couples were well trained, enthusiastic and committed to the consumers. The consumers appeared pleased with their home and relationships that they had developed and consumer choice and interests were being promoted. CCO's provision of health-related services and the monitoring of those services were consistent with the Quality Management System expectations of San Andreas."

The San Andreas team consisted of staff from both the Resource and Service Coordination Departments. As a Family HomeAgency, CCO is monitored on a regular basis by San Andreas Regional Center for compliance with Title 17 regulations and Quality Management System expectations.
